“I love this pattern but my yarn doesn't give the same gauge.” Enter both gauges and any stitch count from the pattern — we recalculate it for you.

Watch out for stitch repeats
If the pattern uses a repeat — say a 4-stitch rib or an 8-stitch cable — round the converted cast-on to the nearest multiple of that repeat (plus any edge stitches). Going up is usually safer than going down.
Row gauge is often ignored — don't
Many patterns give lengths in centimetres, so row gauge barely matters. But when shaping is written as “decrease every 6th row 12 times”, a different row gauge changes the slope of your sleeve or waist. Convert those counts too.
